I’ve been listening to Linkin Park’s new song The Emptiness Machine on repeat.
A perfect introduction to the bands new singer, Emily Armstrong.
They also released a live stream on YouTube.

I migrated my feeds and accounts over to the new Reeder app.
The UI is outstanding.
I’m curious if I’ll get used to the timeline approach rather than having a more traditional inbox of unread items.
I don’t know if this will be any different, as I’d still keep checking for anything new.

I swapped the switches on my NuPhy Air 75 V2 from Cowberry to Wisteria. The Wisteria switches are noticeably more tactical and have a deeper clicky sound I like.

I finally bought a new bookshelf after my old one was overflowing. It feels empty at the moment.

I updated my sites (again).
- Home site for about and contact.
- Blog site for long posts.
- Micro site for small posts without a title.
I still need to copy over some content.
Not much is different than before. I tend to break things for no good reason.

It’s been a very busy week, requiring about 60 hours of my brain power. Working this much used to be easy when I was younger. These days, I need much more recovery. No surprise.

How writing can help you solve problems
How writing can help you solve problems Have you ever started an email to someone explaining a problem that you don’t know the solution to, only to realize that by the time you finish the email, you have come up with a solution? Simply writing out an issue where the explanation is as simple as possible (so someone else can understand it), we are clarifying in our mind precisely what the issue is. Continue reading →

Clew is a web search engine focused content from independent creators. Only about 223k results indexed currently, but that’s a good start if you’re looking for focused content by individuals.

I finally installed the iOS 18 beta. I hear battery is decent and it’s pretty stable. Frankly, I’m surprised I waited so long. I usually jump right on the betas.

I’ve been using a Lamy Safari Fountain Pen for about 2 weeks. I think I’m hooked. While I don’t have a beautiful notebook to go with it, I do have a large hardcover, spiral-bound notebook that works well for me.

On hobbies, side projects, and money – Manu
We need to accept that in order for the open, non hyper-commercial web to stay alive, we all have to do our part and we have to contribute something to it. Because running the sites you enjoy takes time and effort. And it costs money. We can’t expect everyone to do everything for free, forever. And we also can’t complain about the endless proliferation of ads and paywalls if we’re not willing to contribute even as little as 1$ ourselves.
I’ve been trying to contribute here and there. But, there are so many good things to pay for, it adds up quick.

I moved our company development Wiki from Azure DevOps into Obsidian Publish. With local markdown and one-click publishing, it’s been the solution that stuck with us. My company gladly paid for the commercial license and the Publish service.

Finished reading: Co-Intelligence by Ethan Mollick 📚
This book covers “AI” at a high level, including what AI is today and the possibilities of what it can be in the future. It touches on the ethics and regulation. Overall, the author was optimistic about AI if we learn to use it properly.

Finished reading: A System for Writing by Bob Doto 📚
If you want a practical guide on how to use a Zettelkasten, this is it. The book doesn’t go too much into the history, but rather the implementation. Full of examples showing how to take notes and use your system for writing. Bob is the expert.

NVM
NVM As developers who rely on NodeJS, we often encounter applications that require different versions of Node to run. This is where NVM (Node Version Manager) comes in. NVM makes it easy to install multiple versions of Node.js on your machine and switch between them as needed. Installing NVM on Mac Open your terminal. Run brew install NVM. Installing NVM on Windows Download and install the latest release of nvm-windows. Continue reading →

Deadpool & Wolverine, 2024 - ★★★★
🍿 A fun movie with a lot of fan service. I’m getting tired of the “multiverse” movies, but this one needed it to make the story work. Continue reading →

Book Palma Battery Life
Don’t expect to get weeks of battery on the Boox Palma. In my experience so far, I get a couple of days. I’m using the Kindle app, Readwise Reader, and the Micro.blog apps. I’m sure it could be a bit better if you disabled Wi-Fi. It doesn’t compare to the Kindle regarding battery life, but has many other advantages. Continue reading →
